Ringed Curlew

You may remember this ringed Curlew I phone-scoped at Southerness? See; https://dumfriesgallowaybirdnews.blogspot.com/2025/10/southerness.html?m=1 Well, after a couple of unsuccessful attempts by Ian Bainbridge & myself to find out more about the bird, Ian received this response; "Hi Pete  I have some news for you on your Curlew...  It was ringed by Andrew Hoodless of GCWT; here's his message";   "Many thanks for the sighting. This is a curlew that I ringed as a breeding female on moorland near Slaggyford, Northumberland on 16 May 2022. The ring number is FJ47132 and this bird was fitted with a GPS tracker. The bird hatched its clutch, and we think the brood fledged. The bird spent the winter of 2022/23 at Southerness making intensive use of the golf course and shoreline. The bird shed its tag before its spring migration in 2023. It is very helpful to have confirmation that the bird was still alive and using the same wintering site in autumn 2025." Many thanks to Ian for his determination in resolving the question! P.
