Powillimount

Sat on the car park I'd hoped for something to be blown up the Firth. But no! There were possibly 2 Arctic Skua way off in the haze heading in but otherwise, just a single fly-by Common Scoter, Rock Pipit & a pair of Ringed Plover flight-displaying. Around 2pm 5ad Gannet past close inshore heading out. Swallow fled by 1445hrs.

The southerly winds have brought a small fall of Sand Martin onto the lagoon north of car park. Ivan Lang.

Hooded or hybrid? Anyone?

A question for those more familiar than I with our Corvids. Is this a Carrion/Hooded hybrid? Photo taken this morning (5th April) at the Isle of Whithorn. Rob Wadsworth. rsvp.

Crossbills

Image
28th. Thanks to Robbie P, I stopped by Kirkconnell Flow & stumbled upon his reported flock. About 15 were in flight but they proved elusive, disappearing in the topmost foliage. Eventually I got a reasonable view of 1 male & a female or 2, but not for long! When on the forest edge, they would drop down for water. Located where the direct path into the merse turns into the wood, where the stump fence says no access due to peatland restoration. Map location ;  https://maps.app.goo.gl/RHkSkmQ6FciDw7mm6

Willow Warbler

One at Laurieston, on Wednesday , apparently.
