10:00-10:30pm+. 2 churring birds of 1 min+, with 1 in flight seen within yards & circling the nearby area along Kirkgunzeon road south of the Glider Club turning. Same place as last year. Nothing heard or seen in former Auchenhay Hill location off B793 Dalbeattie road. PJ

Woodcockair. Redstart pair remain at woodland edge with young (at least 2 noted). Second pair down beside the river with at least 2 young (looking 2/3 days older than the pair at the south end of the wood), constant tail twitching. Adults can be very bold with a tic ticking alarm call. So far 2 out of 4 estimated pairs in here have fledged young, looking great. Bill Jamieson. 

After three failed years the Carlingwark (roadside) Great Crested Grebes have at last hatched at least one of four eggs. Seen feeding happily. Barbara Williams. 

Hoddam, Woodcockair. Pair of Redstart with newly fledged young this morning at woodland edge. Ssw one young on the bracken but female disappearing with food and coming out with nothing. Watching for 10 minutes at a safe distance. Bill Jamieson. 

One flew west off the Mull of Galloway this afternoon. 

c1300 Common Scoter distantly out from Carsethorn, in line roughly with Chapelcross Power Station, so probably off WWT/NNR. Gavin Chambers.

RSPB Crook of Baldoon. Quail flushed c0915 from lagoon path. Headed towards airfield. Ivan Lang. 

Saw it briefly c5pm in the garden opposite the play area. I suspect it likes the wetter garden boundary with the burn. Spooked v easily when it saw me walking along the road back to the play area. It flew up into the large oak tree, then towards the school field where boundaries with the same burn. So that would seem to be it's current range looking for food. Sister got a better view! 🙄😁 PJ

I saw it for around 30 seconds on my arrival at 11am in garden across from children's play park but it flew away over rooftops heading south. Never seen again in the two hours I was there. Colin Kinnear.
