A bit off topic.... Had a few hours with the lonesome friendly piper last Saturday. Lighting could have been better. Quite tolerant of humans but def didn't like dogs. Lots of humans with dogs. Bird frequented, or stuck, to keep out of the way, to the harbour "spit". Late afternoon, when tide receding, it fed for a while on the harbour mud along same spit. It runs like a Sanderling but usually quite slow moving. Also "crept" a little at times, reminiscent of a (non-springy) Jack Snipe. Where will it go in a few weeks time? Europe? I wonder. PJ
