Green WT for a few mins 10:45am, American Wigeon came out of the same reedy area 12:30pm, 60-70 flushed snipe. AW. @RareBirdAlertUK

Dalbeattie Forest at Colvend. Just 7 found, 4m, ass. wth large flock 25-30 Siskin. Also, 4 Goldeneye & 2m goosander on Barean Loch, jay, tit flck, gcrest, nhatch, treecrpr, gsw. PJ

2pm : a single Brent Goose swimming out from the car park near 4 Red Breasted Mergansers. AW

Carse Bay & Carsethorn

10 black-tailed godwit, 1 whimbrel on foreshore, 1 little egret, a few knot.  No scaup found. Peregrine sussing birds at Maxwellfield Farm. Bullfinch found dead in road of the "bad corner", Carsethorn.

23/01 21:22 Dumfries & Galloway : Slav Grebe, Loch Ryan; 60 today; also 7 Long-tailed Ducks, 720 Greater Scaup and a Great Northern Diver. Per BirdGuides.  Wow, 60 slavs.... Unbelievable. PJ 

West Freugh Airfield

23/01 21:07 Dumfries & Galloway : Hen Harrier, W.Freugh Airfield; two ringtails (09:30). Per BirdGuides.

Southerness Pt

Around high tide. 1 fly-by little egret, 8 fly-by red-throated diver. Target was purple sandpiper & eventually Billy No-mates, the solitary purple sand, made an appearance. Usual offshore common scoter. PJ

WeBS : Inner Fleet Estuary

26 shelduck, gulls of 5 species inc 7 lssr bl-backs, 15 pfg. Mark Hannay of nearby Cardoness reported a calling chiff-chaff in the woods there today. DH

2 whimbrel, 1 snipe, 13 grey plvr, 2 gc grebe, 12 rbm, 2 pfg, c60 knot, ringed plvr, dunlin, turnstone, redshank, curlew, wigeon, mallard, heron, few oysterc, 1 starling seen carryg nestg mat & tits singg arnd home! PJ

Southerness

Standard fayre this afternoon & not too much of it either.  I was informed of a peregrine hunting the waders in Mersehead Bay. Might well explain the dearth. 1 rock pipit  2 fly-by little egret  Around 125 golden plvr at 13th tee roost c2000+ each knot & dunlin 20 grey plvr at least  Sparse usual others.

American Wigeon

Crook of Baldoon - 18th Jan American Wigeon still ; showed well on grassy bank, feeding amongst Eurasian Wigeon. 20+ Snipe roosting, 1 Black-tailed Godwit, 3 Tufted Duck and 1 Goldeneye. Also ringtail Hen Harrier , Sparrowhawk & Merlin. Gavin

Unconfirmed Glaucous Gull (?)

Unconfirmed reports of a Glaucous Gull on Mersehead beach yesterday. Gavin

Carlingwark Loch

Stopped by to see if the LTD was there but seemingly gone. Drake Pochard still though & briefly around 1530 an adult med gull was with the black-headed. Few duck on Auchenreoch south end & nothing unusual found. PJ.

Bramblings

Glaisters Farm access road. 50a deer fenced fodder field half way-ish down on right. Yes, c200, suspect more, feeding in field & occasionally flocking to alight on fence/small tree hedge. Some, maybe 50+ chaffinch & single reed bunting. EXCELLENT ๐Ÿ‘Œ. Thanks Anna. ๐Ÿ‘. PJ

Auchenreoch Loch

1500 : 4 resplendent mandarin on arrival. 2m & 2f. Whoevers collected up the shocking fishermen's rubbish should be commended. Good job done. @RareBirdAlertUK. PJ.
