This email is going out to BTO supporters in D&G with news of two outdoor training sessions that we are holding at NTS Threave on Sunday 1st May. By emailing everyone I know that in some cases it will not be directly relevant, but if so I hope that you can help by forwarding this on to other people in the area who you think might be interested. We'd really like to increase our supporter base and survey coverage in D&G. Days such as this can be helpful for encouraging skills progression, and reaching new people.

The day at Threave will be split into two sessions, each bookable separately. In the morning (10am start) we will be running a bird identification practice session. During this session we will enjoy looking and listening to the birds that we find, with a particular focus on improving recognition of bird songs and calls. There will be plenty of time to ask questions and pick up ID tips from your trainer (me!) and other participants. There is a small charge of £10 for this session to help cover costs.

In the afternoon (1.30pm start) we will be teaching and then practising the method for the Breeding Bird Survey. There is no charge for this session. This Breeding Bird Survey is the UK's main scheme for monitoring population change in our commoner breeding birds. There are quite a few vacant squares in D&G and it would be great if we could find volunteers to cover them!

Each session is bookable separately via the links below, and you are welcome to attend either or both elements. Numbers on each session are limited to keep groups fairly small.

Hopefully this is of interest to you, or if not please do pass this message on to individuals or relevant groups in the south-west to help us reach new people.

With warm wishes and thanks for your kind support of BTO Scotland
