West Galloway - Recent Sightings
Luce Bay, Sandhead, yesterday - 2 arctic skua's headed west along beach, later seen harassing feeding sandwich terns. At least 95 sandwich terns and 9 common terns roosting at the mouth of the Culmore Burn. Good number of manx shearwater not too far out, perhaps feeding in bay. Mull of Galloway, yesterday - sand martin, house martin, swallow and swifts all moving south, no wonder there was a hobby the other day! 15 bottlenose dolphins off foghorn showed well for a small crowd of visitors. Crook of Baldoon, yesterday - 2 eclipse male wigeon, 3 teal and 3 little grebe on main lagoon. Gavin
