Pretty sure we saw a pair of these yesterday at Clifton Crag which is a little inland and quite near Sandyhills Bay. Thought they were Shelduck at first but they were too white and too black. Unfortunately failed to get my camera out in time. We were climbing on the left end of the crag and watched them circle around and one landed in the field below. Did not see where they went to after that. Stephen Reid - you can contact me via the Galloway Climbers facebook page.

For Stephen. It is highly unlikely the birds were Snow Geese. 1 would be unlikely at this time of year so 2 would be a virtual miracle. Without more information or details I'm afraid the logical conclusion would indeed to conclude the birds were Shelduck. Perhaps they were juveniles which do look different to adults & are smaller in comparison. A mystery without the additional information needed I'm afraid ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ‘
