The size of flock is very similat to what has been seen at Ken Dee. Do the birds range between sites or are they faithfull to one location ? Anyone know.
I've received the following query from "Anonymous". The comments options clearly requests "commenters" provide some form of ID, despite the anonymous option being a default option, & that comments without ID won't be published. However, on this occasion I'll pass on this.

Birds of Scotland published by the SOC states wintering populations have been found to be site-faithful & that there are 2 separate wintering flocks in D&G. However, in extreme cold conditions, flocks will disperse to find milder conditions. The D&G annual bird report provides up to date status information on the 2 separate wintering populations & is recommended reading on GWF. The reader will find that colour-ringing & tagging ID of birds has taken place for research purposes & so any birds seen wearing same, should be scrutinised to ascertain the colour &/or code. Only by such close observation will any confirmation of movement between the separate wintering flocks ever be determined.
Many thanks for the pertinent question . Hopefully getting a copy of the annual bird report will be of great help. Available from RSPB Mersehead, WWT Caerlaverock or see the SOC website for obtaining a copy by post from Peter Swan.
