Smew

Spent all day at Castle Loch NR wondering if I might be lucky with Bittern. At 16:40, whilst watching the gathering Goldeneye in the centre of the main loch, a/the drake Smew flew in with a couple of Goldeneye right in the scope view! Unbelievable! Maybe the recent drake has been spending time at Kirk Loch or somewhere else locally? 🤔. Anyhow, despite better late than never, it made my all-day visit worthwhile 😁👍. Also about 12 Whoopers late pm. No Willow Tit, no Bittern! Boardwalk to the hide is above water but treacherous due to ice on the surface ⚠️. PJ
