No Quail calling at 8am this morning but just past the turning for Drumcoltran Tower my first Wheatear of the late summer/autumn sat on the dry-stone dyke. Caerlaverock WWT; No sign of yesterday's Ruff but the Green Sandpiper showing well on the Whooper Pond with lots of Black-tailed Godwits on the Folly Pond. Star of the show was a migrant Convolvulus Hawkmoth which someone found. With only my big lens I had to step back a fair bit! Chris Baines
